The HairMax LaserComb has been on the market since March 2001. Since that time, there have been hundreds of thousands of satisfied users of the device.
A few users report a slight increase in shedding when they first start the HairMax treatments. This is actually a good sign. Your hair grows in three phases, Anagen (the growth phase), Catagen (the resting phase) and Telogen (the shedding phase). At any one time about 10% of your hair is in the Catagen phase, resting in your scalp and waiting to be shed. The HairMax stimulates the hair follicle into an Anagen state and encourages the hair follicle to start a new healthy hair. This new healthy hair will push out some of the Catagen hairs that are in the resting phase. The new hair will be stronger, healthier and thicker. This Catagen hair would have been shed in time anyway.
This slight increase in shedding is only temporary and should not be cause for alarm. During this time it is essential to continue the HairMax treatment and with time you should start to see visual results.
There have never been any reports in over 12 years that the HairMax LaserComb has been on the market, of the device causing damage to hair follicles in any way. The HairMax merely provides energy to the hair follicle to stimulate the production of hair. If you were to stop using the HairMax, your hair would return to where it would have been had you not been using the device.
The HairMax Hair Fibers can be used along with the HairMax LaserComb and will conceal your hair loss while you wait for the effects of the HairMax to take place.
Studies have shown that laser phototherapy (LPT) is effective in people ages 18 and older. For people under the age of 18, we recommend you consult your physician prior to using the HairMax LaserComb.
We have found that three times a week seems to be the optimal amount of usage. Using the HairMax LaserComb more than three times a week has not been shown to accelerate the benefits.
The HairMax LaserComb works well as both a standalone treatment and in conjunction with other treatments.
An increasing number of hair transplant surgeons worldwide have chosen to use the HairMax after transplant procedures. Anecdotal reports have shown that the HairMax LaserComb decreases the recovery time in hair transplant patients, and also increases the look of the transplanted hairs in a positive manner (making them appear thicker, fuller, and healthier). The teeth of the HairMax LaserComb are even removable making immediate use after surgery possible.
